Today, March 29, the iconic Goodwill Smiling G logo turns 50! Known as the “Smiling G,” the award-winning logo represents the many smiling faces and positive impacts achieved through Goodwill programs and services, every day.
Parris Caesar: Going from Part- to Full-Time Employment
Parris Caesar joined our Supported Employment program back in 2006. Although Parris had little work experience at the time, he was motivated and enthusiastic to learn. But the journey was long.
In 2009, Paris was placed at the Goodwill Outlet store as a part-time Production Worker. He quickly stood out as an efficient and dedicated worker. With the assistance of his Job Coach, he soon learned how to recognize high-quality donated goods that were likely to sell fast.
Goodwill, Google hold tech skills training session in Astoria
On February 5, Goodwill and Google held a tech skills training session for more than 40 job-seekers at the Goodwill NYNJ Astoria headquarters. In addition, 20 Goodwill NYNJ coaches who will support this training for other program participants in the future received a "Train the Trainer" session and 15 Google volunteers provided one-on-one support.
Goodwill NYNJ launches Second Retail Career Training Cohort at FIT
On January 16, Goodwill NYNJ launched its second cohort of the Career in Retail Pathway training at the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology. Sixteen retail employees are participating in the 7-week training, which is free to employees at the FIT campus and is sponsored by Goodwill NYNJ.
Goodwill NYNJ and Arc Herkimer End Partnership in Store Operation
Goodwill NYNJ and Arc Herkimer have ended their partnership in operating the Goodwill-Arc Herkimer store. The Arc Herkimer will take full control of the store's operations effective February 1. For almost ten years, sales proceeds from the retail location supported the mission of both nonprofit organizations in their efforts to serve the community.
