Goodwill Industries of Greater NY and Northern NJ, Inc. (Goodwill NYNJ) has continued to place people in employment during the Covid-19 pandemic. One of its 46 programs in the New York City metropolitan region, Jobs-Plus in The Bronx has placed more than 20 NYCHA residents in Covid-19 related positions like warehousing, maintenance, Healthcare and Security.
Twenty-two employees from Deloitte spent their annual #ImpactThatMatters Day volunteering at Goodwill NYNJ with 50 participants from our Youth Pathways and Limited English Proficiency programs on Friday, June 7. Our Workforce Development programs prepare individuals for a successful entry into sector-based career pathways and sustainable employment.

Parris Caesar joined our Supported Employment program back in 2006. Although Parris had little work experience at the time, he was motivated and enthusiastic to learn. But the journey was long.
In 2009, Paris was placed at the Goodwill Outlet store as a part-time Production Worker. He quickly stood out as an efficient and dedicated worker. With the assistance of his Job Coach, he soon learned how to recognize high-quality donated goods that were likely to sell fast.
On February 5, Goodwill and Google held a tech skills training session for more than 40 job-seekers at the Goodwill NYNJ Astoria headquarters. In addition, 20 Goodwill NYNJ coaches who will support this training for other program participants in the future received a "Train the Trainer" session and 15 Google volunteers provided one-on-one support.
