Program: Medicaid Service Coordination and Supported Employment

Tamiko is a 38-year-old woman with an intellectual disability and autism. When she came to us in 2000, she received necessary vocational counselling (while making friends and developing her drawing ability.) Then, she gain valuable communication skills while volunteering at different companies. Thanks to her hard work, she was accepted into the Goodwill Supported Employment Program. She wanted to get a job and be independent!

She began a career in janitorial work at a Wendy’s restaurant in Manhattan with on-the-job support from her Job Coach. That was 14 years ago. She’s been successful ever since with regular case management from our Medicaid Service coordinator and Supported Employment Job Coach. Now, she has moved into her own studio apartment in Manhattan and is building a better life daily.
