Shopping and Donations


Goodwill will provide a store credit or even exchange for most merchandise that is returned within five days.

Customers must bring:
  • Sales receipt
  • Attached Goodwill price tag
Other requirements:
  • No returns on undergarments/bathing suits
  • Merchandise must be in same condition as when purchased
  • Returns must go to same store where sale took place Store credits may be used at any of our stores

Most stores are open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Please check specific store hours for the location nearest to you on our Store Locator page.

You will earn 1 rewards point for every $4 you spend before taxes. When you’ve earned 50 points, you can take $5 off your purchase on the next transaction. To get the card, fill out the enrollment form at a store or on this website. The card should be activated within 7 days, and then you can use it.

Sign Up for Rewards

We offer a 10% discount for seniors on Tuesdays, military/vets on Thursdays, and students on Saturdays. Show your ID when you sign up for a rewards card to automatically get the discounts that apply or ask the store to add the information to your enrollment.

If you’re still in the store, ask store staff to make a duplicate of your receipt and email it with your name and rewards card number to Goodwill’s customer service department. If you discover when you get home that the points weren’t provided, call (718) 777-6418 or email with your name, rewards card number, date of purchase, ticket number and pre-tax subtotal. We will add the points.

You must return merchandise within five days of the purchase to the store where the items were bought. Make sure you have the receipt and the item has the Goodwill tag. Store credit is issued for all returns.

Donation Do's and Don'ts

We can make special arrangements for pick-ups in the following cases:

  • The donor has at least 35-45 bags/boxes of new or gently used items and can supply sample pictures
  • We have a donation bin placed in a residential or office building
  • A corporation makes donations on a regular, ongoing basis
  • The donor is hosting a donation drive for Goodwill NYNJ

Go to the store or attended donation center where you made the donation, and ask them to print you a copy of the receipt.

If you donated at several different stores, call (718) 777-6320 or email our donations department with the months and years for the receipts you need us to reproduce.
