Immigrants and Refugees Services

Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey offers a variety of programs to help immigrants and refugees transition to life in the United States by achieving economic self-sufficiency and breaking down cultural barriers.
We host employment preparation workshops that focus on resume preparation, letter writing, and interview skills to assist immigrants searching for employment. Goodwill also offers intensive vocational English classes, computer literacy, and other professional skill-building trainings to improve participants' employability. We effectively match our clients with employment opportunities that match their skills and capabilities. Goodwill staff also helps complete applications for public benefits; offers translation and interpretation, employer-employee problem solving, and crisis intervention services; assistance in obtaining New York State driver’s license and photo identification; personal budgeting; and other social services.
While many of our services provide access to employment, Goodwill also works with families to enable immigrant youth to succeed in school and access the social services they need.
