Compliance

Since 2002. Goodwill's Compliance Division  supports the organization in achieving transparency, accountability, as well as the highest legal and ethical standards while ensuring the organization meets its regulatory obligations. Accountability is built upon established policies and procedures,  risk analysis, and training  geared to assuring well informed employees.

Through a robust review process both the efficiency and effectiveness of Goodwill’s programs are improved.  The Chief Compliance Officer reports directly to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Through approaches that encourage commitment and ethical practice,  a culture of compliance is cultivated. Compliance creates and maintains a culture of integrity while defining and identifying  best practices.

Goodwill’s Compliance Division  monitors and conducts reviews of programs to assess adherence to all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and reduce risk.  The Division monitors trends, conducts internal reviews of documentation required by city, state, federal and private funders. Through the results of the reviews, the Compliance Division provides guidance for program management and staff.

A dedicated intranet website serves as a resource for all employees for policies, protocols, processes, and training. A toll free hotline number provides anonymity to report issues, concerns, and recommendations. A Billing Specialist provides additional support through verification of billing submissions.

Training is an important element of Goodwill and Compliance develops, distributes and documents and tracks trainings.

Agency wide training is presented both for individuals and groups. Group training is provided for new hires. Refresher training modules for existing staff  improve skills and reduce risk exposure for the organization. Articles, videos, web seminars, online tools, handbooks, policy manuals and invited speakers compliment  good faith efforts.

In addition to auditing programs, the Compliance Division oversees the archiving of documentation, document retention and document destruction for agency.  The Compliance Division has created and implemented policies and protocols for document retention to meet all funder and internal requirements.

Goodwill’s Compliance division works with our stakeholders, from those we serve, our employees, to donors and supporters, to safeguard our reputation for excellence and integrity, our most valued asset.
